Let's break it down and start from the basics-
ABA is a science. Science is a systematic approach for understanding the world. This means using cause and effect, breaking down the facts and experimenting if we want something understood. Behavior Analysis has become the gold standard for autism treatment, but is used in many different fields, branches and everyday life. We study science to understand the world, and in the case of ABA for socially important behaviors. We seek to understand causation/control; this means we manipulate 1 variable (independent variable) which results in another event (dependent variable). ABA is empirically valid (it is a therapeutic technique that has been scientifically tested multiple times and shown to be valid and effective) and used in research, in businesses (OBM), the treatment of various conditions such autism, substance misuse, dementia, anxiety, and much more!
